Models of Olympic Games medals with Eiffel Tower particles were presented in Paris

The tower, erected in the very center of the French capital for the World Exhibition of 1889, is considered a symbol of the country. As Estanguet noted, a lot of work was done to combine the precious metals with the metal of the Eiffel Tower, but this is what will make the medals unique and inimitable.  By the way, medals for Paralympic athletes will be identical to the main set.

The Chaumet company was entrusted with the implementation of such an original idea. This company – authoritative expert in jewelry production. She is known all over the world for her unconventional approach to work and unique creations.

The creators looked for inspiration in three things: the hexagon, France and the desire to give the medal a resemblance to a precious stone.

The hexagon located in the center of the medal is made of metal from the tower structure. Thin broken rays radiate from it to the sides, symbolizing the glory of the athletes and France.

The weight of the gold medal will be 529 g, the silver medal – 525, and bronze – 455. A total of 5,084 medals were produced. They will be played from July 26 to August 11 at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.

Let us recall that Russian athletes can take part in the Games in Paris only in a neutral status, that is, under the flag of the country’s Olympic Committee, without its symbols. In addition, athletes will only be allowed to compete in individual sports; teams will not be allowed at all.
