Thomas Bach about participation in the Olympics of Russians

According to his statement, Russian and Belarusian athletes should be allowed to participate in international competitions, provided that they did not speak out in support of the SVO, are not associated with military service and agree to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, Thomas Bach did not indicate specific official dates when invitations would be sent to athletes. The representative of the committee noted that the current situation is contrary to the principles of the Olympic Charter.

The removal of Russian athletes from the Olympic Games caused a powerful resonance in society and the professional environment. Many coaches noted that their wards need external competition, but even in the current conditions they are confident in a high level of training. Some representatives of the Olympic committees argue that the exclusion of Russians will have a negative impact on the entire structure of the Games and, to some extent, “roll back” the sport.

Recall that the 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. During this time, 329 sets of medals in 32 sports will be played. In the program of the 33rd Olympic Games, breakdancing, skateboarding, surfing, sport climbing have been added to the main sports. The competition will go beyond the French capital and affect nearby departments and cities of the country, and surfers will go to catch waves in Teahupoo in Tahiti.
