Russian Paralympians will perform at the 2024 Olympics
However, against the backdrop of these events, the IPC suspended our country’s membership in the International Paralympic Committee. The decision to expel was made almost unanimously. Fifty-six of the assembly members spoke out against it. This means that in the next two years our country has lost all rights to membership in the Committee, but at the same time Russian athletes retain their right to participate in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in a neutral or individual status.
Only athletes who do not represent team sports received this right, that is, our volleyball players, hockey players and representatives of other team sports are automatically deprived of the right to compete at the Olympics.
Members of the IPC Assembly admit that the decision may be revised, but not earlier than 2025, so those who decide to go to France for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris can already prepare for the next Olympic Games. It will take place from August 28 to September 8.
Let us remind you that our Paralympians were forced to miss the last Paralympic Games 2022 in Beijing due to the decision of the IPC.
