Roland Garros is a unique tennis complex located on the edge of the Bois de Boulogne in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Built in 1928, it is home to the French Open, one of the most prestigious Grand Slam tournaments.
The stadium got its name in honor of the famous French aviator Roland Garros. Today at Roland Garros there are 24 tennis courts, including 3 main ones where the final matches are held. This is where the main battles take place, attracting the attention of the entire world tennis community. Additional courts are used for the first rounds of the singles tournament, as well as for competitions between doubles, boys and girls, and disabled people.
The stadium's main court, originally called Center Court, was renamed in honor of Philippe Chatrier, the former head of the French Tennis Federation, in 2001. This court can accommodate up to 15 thousand spectators, creating a unique atmosphere during matches.
The second largest court, named after tennis player Suzanne Lenglen, was built in 1994 and can accommodate up to 10 thousand spectators. The third court, known as "Court No. 1", opened in 1980 and has a capacity of up to 3,700 spectators.
